Appropriation is the practice of making a pre-existing item one's own, consciously or not.

Appropriation in art and art history refers to the practice of artists using pre-existing objects or images in their art transforming and deconstructing the original.

It's something you have seen already, but not exactly. It seems familiar, but you are not sure which is the original piece. You might recognise it, but it can be a wonder you see for the first time.

I chose to recreate something that is so much of me already.

Justin Bieber doing his thing. Kate McKinnon doing her thing. And me using both of them for my creation.
